The Gurley family is carrying on a family tradition
started when The Smith Brother's Restaurant opened in Poughkeepsie, New York over 100 years ago. The restaurant was famous for fine home-cooked meals and fabulous pastries. The Smith brothers were also the originators of Smith Brother's Cough Drops.
Many well-known people such as Alfred Einstein and
Eleanor and Teddy Roosevelt frequented the Smith Brother's Restaurant. Mrs. Roosevelt purchased pastries weekly while Teddy enjoyed ice cream served to him at curbside. Our staff will also carry on another family tradition, "Southern hospitality". |
